Expo for Kids: Surprise Boxes (POinte Claire)

Self-educated artist Christiane Chami, from Du coq à l’âne, brought her talent, ideas, and creativity from Aleppo, in Syria, to Montreal. For her surprise boxes, she draws inspiration from her life in Aleppo and Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood to tell tales from here and abroad through meticulously crafted scenes that reflect the moments she has witnessed.

First Friday’s at St. Columba (Pointe Claire)

This month’s theme: “A Different Dream”

Was there ever a time when you felt different from everyone around you?

Pressured to be someone you are not? “Once upon a time in Spain”…someone followed their own dreams – their own path.

Come to First Fridays on Friday, Feb. 1st, to hear their story.

All are welcome – young and old!

Come to relax, be yourself, smell the flowers and spread the love.

The fun begins at 17h30 with snacks and activities for the kids.

Dinner is served around 18h30. Kids who finish quickly can continue with the activities or listen to a story.

Black History Month Caribbean Lunch (Pierrefonds)

Join OWTA for a Caribbean Lunch on Saturday, February 2nd. The event will include an authentic Caribbean meal, live music by Ezra Lewis, and a spoken word performance. Hosted by Breakfast Television Montreal’s Catherine Verdon-Diamond, guests will get a sneak peek of Overture with the Arts’ annual Black History Month School Tour, featuring Omari Newton special presentation of B.R.A.W.L (Black Revolutionary Activists Women List); a presentation about the many heroic contributions black women have made in the struggle for black liberation throughout history, from slave plantations all the way through present day. One of the inspiring females who we will highlight in B.R.A.W.L is The Honourable Anne Clare Cools who will be in attendance to share her story with guests.
