SUMMER PROGRAMS

Social Emotional Group for Children

Saturday 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM, July 8 – August 26, 2017

8 weeks for $400

Children struggling with social skills, behaviour and/or emotional reactivity can learn how to express their needs and feelings, behave appropriately in stressful situations and make and keep friends. A major focus is on emotion regulation and distress tolerance, key components of resilience and well-being. These essential skills are taught through role-playing, modelling, video demonstrations and practice opportunities, all in a fun, child-friendly context. With rehearsal and coaching, children can improve their self-control, coping abilities and communication skills.

Group Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for Children with AD(H)D

Wednesday 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM, August 9 – October 18, 2017

10 weeks for $600

This group teaches children with ADHD essential skills related to impulse control, attention, organization, emotion regulation and social relationships. We work with parents and children simultaneously (spending approximately an hour apart, half an hour together) to improve family relationships and reduce disruptive behaviours that make life difficult at home, in school or with friends. Participants also enjoy giving and getting support from others facing similar struggles.

Small Group Reading Remediation for Children

Monday – Friday 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM

July 10 – 21, 2017     July 24 – August 4, 2017     August 7 – 18, 2017

2-week block of 10 sessions for $400

Intensive remediation is the treatment of choice for children with reading delays or disabilities. We use a set of carefully chosen, empirically validated methods to teach phonics, reading fluency, spelling, writing and text comprehension. These skills are essential for all aspects of academic achievement as well as self-esteem and motivation. Our groups of no more than 3-4 children use classic Orton-Gillingham multisensory techniques along with programs such as LIPS, Lively Letters, Raconte-moi les sons, Read Naturally, Visualizing/Verbalizing and more.
