Many stores will be closed or their operations reduced, while public transit will run on reduced schedules on Labour Day Monday.
Stores
Most large grocery stores will be closed for the day, though some locations — along with smaller shops — may remain open with reduced hours. Pharmacies are permitted to open, though hours vary by location.
The city’s public markets, including Atwater Market and Jean-Talon Market, will be open.
Major malls, including Eaton Centre, Complex Desjardins and Royalmount will be closed, though many cinemas will be open.
Fairview Pointe Claire is CLOSED.
Galeries des Sources is CLOSED.
Plaza Pointe Claire is CLOSED
Most SAQ branches will be closed, except those located in public markets, SAQ Express stores and certain other branches. Each location varies but most are closed.
Government services
There will be no Canada Post delivery or pickup on Monday.
Most bank branches will be closed for the day.
Garbage, recycling and compost collection will proceed as usual. Ecocentres will be closed.
Montreal’s 311 information line will remain open.
City offices like borough halls, permit counters, Accès Montréal offices and municipal courts will be closed, except for detainee court, which remains open. Library branches are generally closed, though are open in some boroughs. The Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec’s Grande Bibliothèque will be closed. Community centres and public pools may have modified hours or be closed, which can vary from facility to facility — check your borough’s website for details.
Museums such as the Biodome, Biosphere, Botanical Garden, Insectarium and the Planetarium will be open, as will the Pointe-à-Callière museum and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Amusement park La Ronde is also open.

Transportation
Public transit will run on reduced schedules Monday.
- STM buses and the métro on a holiday schedule.
- RTL (Longueuil) and STL (Laval) buses on Sunday schedules.
- Exo buses on a Saturday schedule.
- Exo commuter trains on Sunday schedules. There will be no service on the Mont-St-Hilaire, Candiac or Masouche lines.
- The REM will maintain its regular hours of operation but run on a schedule of non-rush-hour frequency.
The City of Montreal says all parking restrictions will remain in effect.
